Discovery Ski Area

180 Discovery Basin Road

Discovery has three faces. The front face is the perfect blend of gently sloping runs and more advanced groomed cruisers. Off the Granite Chair, things step up a notch with steeper groomed runs and mogul skiing. And the backside? Well, imagine the Chugach without the costly helicopter ride. Point is, we have great terrain and lots of it. No matter what kind of mountain you like, you just discovered it.

Posting specifically for the Kinder Ski (ages 4-6). We've used their lessons for several seasons, and they do a great job. The staff/ instructors are all very friendly, patient, and professional. They take the time to ensure each child is assigned to the appropriate skill level and adjust if necessary. Our daughter continues to learn new skills and has a great time each time she is there. Unfortunately she'll be too old for Kinder Ski next season, but we've had a positive experience with their services.

Very nice service. The runs were well groomed. The cafeteria was great as always. There is a huge variety of runs, from beginner to triple blacks.

Good skiing when the snow is there, with a good selection of runs.. Friendly, helpful staff. The lodge is awesome, with good and varied food. (Don't forget to grab a cookie!) Good bar with local microbrews to sip on after a day on the slopes.

An affordable ski hill with something for everyone nestled in a beautiful area of the state. The lodge is also home to some really amazing cookies.
