Alta and pure, unspoiled skiing are indeed synonymous. Alta's wide variety of terrain, breathtaking alpine scenery and superb snow conditions combine to create a unique setting for unforgettable outdoor experiences with family, friends and the mountain itself. Alta becomes a place where visitors have all the time in the world to feel both a sense of serenity in a pristine alpine environment as well as sense of excitement and fun in being outdoors in the clean mountain air. Alta continues to offer a ski-only experience.

Have come here hundreds and hundreds of times as I've grown up and lived in the area. It is simply an amazing place to ski and has world-class terrain and conditions. Just be sure to be on your game for powder days, as the "powder panic" here is insane. By no means impossible to find fresh turns a while after a storm, but I've always felt the powder turn availability is a bit more competitive here.

I love Alta. And I realize there hadn't been much snow yet. But if there are required trails, like the traverses between different lifts, the ski area MUST MUST make sure they are usable. When I was there between Christmas and New Years the traverses were barely usable and sometimes downright dangerous.

Great skiing, but the price isn't right anymore. They cost as much as nicer resorts, but without the frills and no more free after 3 for learners. The snow is the same as neighboring resorts too and a burger will cost you the same. Save your money and visit them.

Our experience with the staff today was anything but professional. As with most resorts, and used to be with Alta, the beginner magic carpet is free and for the public. No where did it indicate it was for ski school only. So, us not knowing that, went to use it and we were treated very poorly by the staff. As we were walking away, one staff member in particular continued to yell at us and attempted to jerk my daughter away from our control to "escort" us off the hill, as he called it. And in this process he let one of his students crash into my daughter as well. Clearly he cared more about being a hot head rather than paying attention to his students and doing what he's been paid to do. It's not hard to be respectful when there's a misunderstanding. So if it was me I wouldn't trust them to be respectful with my kids, especially when I'm not looking.

For proximity to those traveling from Salt Lake, it doesn’t get better than this for variety, proximity to the city, and cost. One of my favorite places to ski in the area. Featuring amazing vistas and great runs for those of any level.
